Drug Subsidy Cut Pushed Forward
December 2006 | Legal NewsTo the dismay of drugmakers and patients alike, Hungary's controversial cut in the subsidy enjoyed by pharmaceutical companies for their products will now take place in mid-January rather than at the end of the month. As a consequence, drugmakers now have only eight days to adjust to the new prices instead of the previous 30 days. More worryingly, in BMI's opinion, is that local media quote a figure of HUF57bn (US$299mn) as the total savings to the healthcare budget, which is up significantly from the earlier mentioned HUF50bn
