MoH Maintains Pressure On Drug Prices
December 2006 | Company Finance AlertThe UAE is considering introducing a new pricing system that will lower the cost of pharmaceuticals further, after a number of austerities in recent years. Under the new policy, CIF (cost, insurance, and freight) charges for pharmaceuticals will be given a fixed level. In the long term this will reduce pharmaceutical prices - which are often twice the level of the other Gulf States. Imports account for over 90% of the local market due to the small size of the local drug making industry.
