Sanofi-Aventis Reveals Further Job Cuts
November 2006 | Company News AlertFollowing a similar move in its home market of France, Sanofi-Aventis is to make more than 320 employees redundant in Germany, with most of the losses affecting staff at its office in the capital Berlin. The company is blaming reimbursement decisions for the cuts primarily, but acknowledged that generic competition in the US for some of its former blockbusters is also an incentive to make cost savings. Importantly, Sanofi-Aventis said that R&D positions in Germany would not be unaffected, thereby ensuring that new drugs are discovered and developed for future growth.
