Drug Withdrawal Causes Diplomatic Furore
November 2006 | Company News AlertThe Prime Ministers of Poland and Lithuania have both become embroiled in the scandal involving the shutdown of Polish firm Jelfa's operations after one of its products was found to contain the wrong medicine, leading to strained diplomatic ties between the two countries. Whilst seemingly innocuous, it is BMI's view that the unfortunate situation could have serious ramifications for drugmakers that are owned by foreign entities.
