Weakening Yen To Flatter Astellas

Third-ranked Japanese drugmaker Astellas has once again changed its profit forecasts, revising earlier projections for the first half of the 2006-07 financial year upwards by 40% to JPY60.6bn (US$510mn). Yet the stronger performance owes more to Japan's weak currency than any improvement in fundamentals for the company, which earns approximately half its revenues
