Drug Market Climate Deteriorates
October 2006 | Industry ForecastIn light of recently released data, BMI has reassessed its valuation of the Polish drug market and slightly lowered its forecasts accordingly. The value of the market at the end of 2006 is now expected to be US$4.89bn, a 5% y-o-y increase. Previously, we had estimated market valuation to be just over US$5bn by the end of this year. State-imposed cost-containment measures, such as caps on profit margins and price controls, are the primary drivers of this reduced projection. Additionally, patient awareness of lower-priced generic equivalents is negatively impacting total sales.
