Roche Compensates Government
October 2006 | Legal NewsSwiss drugmaker Roche has paid compensation of EUR1.4mn (US$1.76mn) to the Turkish Health Ministry after allegedly causing the government to incur substantial losses by overcharging for drugs. However, the head of Roche Turkey George Nikolov Hadjiev has been attempting to restructure the company from the time of his appointment in 2005. Since allegations of malpractice surfaced in 2004, the entire staff of the oncology department has been dismissed, along with much of the virology and transplantation and primary health sections.
