Industry Admits Illegal Drug Samples Problem

Mexican pharmaceutical industry association AMIIF has defended the use of product samples supplied to doctors, as market regulators consider closer enforcement of measures regulating the practice. The group claims that the practice is one of the few means by which firms can inform prescribers of the benefits of new medicines. AMIIF argues that free samples perform an important social function, allowing patients to begin their treatment immediately upon seeing a doctor.
