New Drug Law To Ease Parallel Imports

Under reforms to the Medicines Law approved in May 2006, Portuguese pharmaceutical distributors will be able to obtain any 'equivalent' foreign medicines that are priced lower than local drugs. The law requires drug packaging to list adult and paediatric indications 'as far as possible'. The measure also commits the market regulator, Infarmed, to speeding up the approval process for new registrations, and requires manufacturers filing medicines that can be used to control pandemics to submit a 'risk management
