Paraguay Anuls 'Illegal' Patents
April 2006 | Legal NewsParaguayan pharmaceutical manufacturers' association Cifarma has welcomed a decision by the government to revoke allegedly 'abusive' patents. The government is currently revising Law 1630 of 2000, which pledged better protection for pharmaceutical patents after years of complaints by research-based drugmakers. According to officials, some 70 of the 139 pharmaceutical patents awarded since the law came into effect have now been revoked.
