The government is mulling radical reforms to the reimbursement list that would further limit funding for patented medicines. EU accession, which is currently slated for 2008, has driven regulatory changes and will ease entry for foreign firms. At the same time, pressure to reduce budget deficits, driven both by accession and loan covenants with the IMF and World Bank, are leading the government to cut healthcare
