Teva 'Well Positioned' In Biosimilars
June 2006 | Company Finance AlertClaims that Israeli generics giant Teva is lagging behind multinationals in so-called 'biosimilar' medicines are overstated, according to local press reports - which consider the firm to be a potential leader in the field. Market watchers cite the fact that Teva is very well-placed in terms of research after the acquisition of US drug firm Sicor in 2003. Sicor had three facilities developing biosimilar products - in Mexico, China and Latvia - which are all now in the Teva stable.
