Bahrain Outlines Mandatory Health Insurance Scheme
May 2006 | Market Trend AnalysisBahrain's government has proposed a five-stage plan to make private health insurance compulsory for all expatriate workers by 2013. The MoH is already working on preliminary targets to introduce compulsory insurance for some non-Bahraini workers by 2008 as it aims to reduce public health expenditure. Initially, insurance will be mandatory for non-nationals working at large corporations with over 500 employees. This will then be gradually expanded to cover those working for smaller companies.
