Politics, Hi-Tech Products Strain Israel's Drug Basket

The scheme's ongoing problems are attributed to a funding crisis, bureaucratic overlap and political limbo as the country awaits its newly-elected government and the 2006 national budget. Reports now claim that a lack of consensus between the finance ministry, Israel's sick funds and the government's semi-permanent Health Basket Update Committee will delay the addition of any new drugs until at least July
