Saudi Arabia To Invest In Primary Care

The Saudi Ministry of Health is planning to build 2,000 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHC) across the country over the next five years at a total cost of some SAR7bn (US$1.86bn). The PHC's will be completely computer-based, operate around the clock and will be segmented into three types - A, B or C - depending on the number of patients in the locality. The PHC's in category A will serve 15,000 to 25,000 inhabitants, those in B will serve 10,000-15,000, while C institutions will serve 5,000. As well as providing treatment the centres will educate the Saudi population about staying
