US Trade Deals Set To Transform Gulf Pharmaceutical Market

Despite recent delays, the US and the UAE are expected to resume talks over a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), with a final deal due in the short term. If the discussions are successful, the UAE will become the third country in the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) trade bloc after Bahrain and Oman to sign a US FTA. The accords are part of a broader US strategy to create a Middle Eastern free trade zone by 2013 - a strategy likely to have a profound impact on the regional healthcare sector.
