Zimbabwe Blames Drug Shortages On Sanctions
March 2006 | Company Finance AlertZimbabwe claims that its chronic shortages of drug supplies are being caused by economic sanctions and that thousands of lives in the country are being endangered as a result. Dr Edwin Muguti, the Deputy Minister of Health and Child Welfare, recently claimed that although the government wishes to implement a comprehensive ARV programme, it simply cannot afford to. Presently, around 25,000 people are dependent on the state-run ARV programme, although many more in the country are in need of the life-saving treatments.
