South Africa Announces New Dispensing Fee

South Africa has finally announced it new draft medicine dispensing fees, after months of deliberations. The move comes after a Constitutional Court ruling in October 2005, which ordered the government to review the pharmacist dispensing fee of 26% of the 'single exit price' (SEP) of a drugs, or a maximum ZAR26 (US$4.14). Previously, pharmacists had claimed that the narrow caps on dispensing fees would force them out of business.
