Germans To Pay More For Healthcare
April 2006 | Company Finance AlertGerman taxpayers will have to pay more to make up the difference between health fund income and healthcare spending, according to Chancellor Angela Merkel. To achieve this, two forms of taxation have been proposed: a hypothecated tax add-on of 8% to fund the health service and a general 3% tax rise. Both are feasible, but economists have warned that further tax rises may damage the country's stuttering economic recovery.
