Italy Overspends On Pharmaceuticals
April 2006 | Company Finance AlertThe Italian drug agency - Agenzia Italiana del Farmaco - has confirmed that the country's spending on pharmaceuticals last year accounted for 17.8% of the healthcare budget, exceeding the target of 16%. In an attempt to rein in this overspending, a 4.4% cut in the price of reimbursable drugs - including hospital medicines - will be introduced.
