Government Abandons Universal Healthcare Policy

BMI View: In line with BMI's expectation that free healthcare provision for all would be too expensive for Côte d'Ivoire, the government is abandoning the policy in favour of free healthcare for pregnant mothers and young children. However, despite the loss of universal healthcare, BMI is more positive about Côte d'Ivoire's prospects that it was three months ago due to the country's increasingly stable political environment and the involvement of international aid organisations in rebuilding healthcare infrastructure.
