BMI View: We believe the recent political upheaval in Egypt and the subsequent performances by the Islamist parties in the January 2012 election will be positive for the country's public healthcare spending. Furthermore, provided that the Muslim Brotherhood chooses not to form a coalition with the extremely conservative Islamist Al-Nour Party, it should not negatively affect Egypt's long-term macroeconomic growth rate and business environment too badly. Unfortunately, even a moderate Islamist-military coalition would be unlikely to be progressive regarding business reform. Furthermore, while much uncertainty remains until the presidential election later in the year, most foreign investors will remain cautious
