For too long, international donors have been happy to purchase drugs from Asian suppliers, ignoring the positive impact that a local industry and job creation can have in Africa. However, with poor local standards of manufacturing and a lack of technical expertise, most donors care more about alleviating the short-term humanitarian need than solving Africa's more complex long-term developmental problems.
