Operating Environment Seems Difficult For Non-Local, Non-Asian Generic Drugmakers
November 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisBMI View: Although there is both the demand and the macroeconomic growth to support the entry of innovative multinational drugmakers into Africa, there seems to be little incentive for generic drugmakers from developed states to enter the market. They cannot compete with Asian generic drugmakers on price and market penetration and they are at a disadvantage against patented European drugmakers or South African branded generic drugmakers targeting the continent's wealthy elite. BMI struggles to see what their competitive advantage over companies already established in the region
