Drug Market Avoids BMI Ratings Downgrade

BMI View: Corrections to the reintroduced claw-back mechanism in Romania are favourable to drugmakers, but the levy itself is still overly burdensome. In October 2011, we stated that: 'We are considering an unfavourable downgrade to our industry risk indicator in BMI's Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare Business Environment Ratings (BERs), which would mean the attractiveness of Romania as a destination for drugmakers dropping from third in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) to seventh.' Due to the favourable amendments in November we will not go ahead with this ratings downgrade.
