BMI View: While we are encouraged by a string of recent research and development (R&D) investments in Brazil, it is worth noting the impact of an increasingly government-led healthcare strategy. Although Brazil's domestic consumption story is expected to translate into strong demand, we believe persistent bureaucratic delays, regulatory challenges and a simple lack of skilled labour have limited domestic production opportunities and dampened the country's ambition to become Latin America's leading healthcare innovator.
