Government Supports Medical Tourism Sector In Spending Announcement

BMI View: Although creating and maintaining equitable access to medical services across the Bahamas has proven difficult, we are encouraged by the government's pledge to match its investment in medical tourism with its investment in domestic healthcare infrastructure improvements. However, unless those reforms bear fruit, the Bahamas' local population will continue to face a two-tier healthcare system that provides high-quality care for foreigners and a close-knit elite and an inferior service for ordinary local patients.
