Traditional Chinese Medicine Takes A Step Towards Global Recognition

BMI View: Potential approval of the first traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) would be a huge landmark for the beleaguered TCM sector and its quest for global recognition. We commend the Chinese government's effort in promoting the sector, as it would help diversify the economy and enhance its soft power. However, we believe significant efforts have to be made to change deeply ingrained perceptions that have arisen due to poor scientific research and frequent recalls of drugs from the market.
