Research Institutions Renew Interest In Stem Cells

BMI View: South Korea's renewed commitment on stem cell research will allow it to become a key leader in this field of scientific research and development (R&D) in Asia, alongside Japan, over the medium term. However, we note that the high-risk nature of the field of stem cell research, particularly the slow economic returns on investment, may erode government interest in the area, resulting in a decline in the injection of funds over time.
