BMI View: The Global Fund's financial shortfall is incredibly disappointing for Africa, but unsurprising given the global sovereign debt crisis that is seeing aid budgets being squeezed by the developed states. However, it does mean more business for local drugmakers that have been squeezed out by the non-governmental organisation (NGO)'s requirement for companies to achieve the World Health Organization (WHO)'s prequalification standards.
