BMI Revises Short-Term Growth Projections Upwards

BMI View: Despite real and continued operating risks to pharmaceutical companies present in Russia, BMI maintains the view that the size and growth potential of the Russian pharmaceutical market make it an indispensable venture for any truly global pharmaceutical company. The modernisation of Russia's healthcare system, a more favourable drug reimbursement regime and increasing consumer spending will be the main drivers behind growth in the country's pharmaceutical market. However, the tighter control of drug prices, the government's preference for domestically produced medicines and concerns relating to intellectual property will impede expansion and hinder access for foreign drugmakers.
