BMI View: The street protests in Israel have greater political and economic implications for the country's future than healthcare provision specifically, despite it being one of the protester's priorities. The government is not going to reduce defence spending and therefore will not be able to afford the type of welfare state that some protestors are calling for. There will be some concessions, but they will not fundamentally alter the highly privatised nature of Israel's healthcare
