BMI View: Qatar's adoption of technological advances to combat the illegal drug trade will make it harder for counterfeit medicine gangs in the country to operate effectively. It is commendable that regulatory responsibilities are being taken so seriously, but given the country's size and the fact that its population is reasonably educated, BMI suspects that ensuring the quality of medicines would not have been very difficult, even without the introduction of an expensive tracking system.
